What is there to do in Delta County?  Just for starters, we've provided a short list of winter time activities for people who like to stay active.  We'll have suggestions for more laid-back indoor activities in the area on future posts!

1. Cross country skiing on the many groomed trails on Grand Mesa.  Visit the Grand Mesa Nordic Council website for a map of trails and cross country events and lessons.   http://gmnc.org/

2.  Ski or snowboard at Powderhorn Mountain Resort just 32 miles from Cedaredge on Hwy 65 across Grand Mesa (weather permitting) or 87 miles going around through Grand Junction.  Visit http://www.powderhorn.com/ for an events calendar and information on lessons.

3.  Snowmobiling trails galore!!!  There are many fantastic locations for snowmobiling in Delta County including Black Mesa with a 62 mile trail and Grand Mesa with an impressive 400 miles of snomobiling trails including the Sunlight to Powderhorn Trail (aka "The SP") which at 123 miles is the longest trail in the lower 48 states. Check out these links for more details on local trails:   http://www.deltacountycolorado.com/about/winter.aspx; http://www.visitmontrose.com/192/Snowmobiling;  http://www.amsnow.com/reviews/snowmobile-trails-travel/2010/11/grand-mesa-colorado-snowmobiing; http://www.fs.usda.gov/activity/gmug/recreation/wintersports/?recid=32366&actid=92

Just a short list of suggestions.  Of course there's so much more Delta County has to offer like ice fishing, sledding, snowshoeing...
